The fact is, takeaways are just so tempting so I am always looking for new fakeaway ideas.  That way, I can feel like I am having a takeaway but I am actually staying on plan. This one was designed with my sister in mind. She often gets a Chicken Legend meal if she goes to McDonald’s. 

Takeaway Vs Fakeaway

A Chicken Legend meal without fries from McDonald’s comes in at 529 for the Chicken Legend, plus 320 for the fries, because let’s face it, who doesn’t get the meal? For those of you concerned about saturated fat, there is 2.5 g in the Chicken Legend and 2g in the fries. This information is freely available on the McDonalds website so you can check it yourself. 

What if I told you that you could have the whole meal for just 534 calories?! A similar amount of calories as eating the Chicken Legend alone (without the fries from McDonald’s?) Of course, I can’t offer you the super quick service of the food that they can. But I can promise that in around 45 – 50 minutes, you’ll have something very similar and tastes great. In fact, many of my non-vegetarian friends tell me that the Quorn Chicken Nuggets taste like McDonald’s ones. So much so that they can’t tell the difference. Furthermore, you won’t need to feel guilty! That has to be good right?

Ingredients

  • 4 Quorn nuggets

  • 250g potatoes (I use Maris Piper)

  • 1 Promise gluten free soft white roll

  • JD Seasonings chips & wedges seasoning

  • 1tbsp lighter than light mayo

  • Handful of salad leaves

  • Low calorie spray oil

Directions

  • Preheat your oven to 180 degrees.
  • Cut the potatoes into chip like shapes, spray with spray oil and sprinkle with the JD Seasonings chips & wedges seasoning until evenly coated. Place in the oven for 30 – 40 minutes, giving them a shake half way. You can use the code JESSGETS20 for 20% off your order at JD Seasonings!
  • When the chips have been in the oven for 15 minutes, put the Quorn nuggets in for the remaining time.
  • Slice your bread roll in half and layer the bottom with salad leaves.
  • Remove the chips and nuggets from the oven. Put the nuggets in the roll and serve the chips next to it on the plate. Top the nuggets with the lighter than light mayo.
