Breakfast Hash in pan

The great part about a hash is that you can add anything into it that you want! Why have the same meal twice when you can use leftovers to make a whole new meal!

Typically a breakfast hash would include some kind of potato, however I’ve left them out of this recipe, but you can add them in if you want to!

Hash origins

The origin of the word ‘hash’ is from the french word ‘hacher’ which means to chop!

In countries such as France, Britain and the United States, a canned corned beef has become very popular during and after the Second World War! this was due to the fact that rationing was limited and there was not much availability of fresh meat.

A hash can be served for either breakfast, lunch or dinner. When served for breakfast it is usually served with eggs, toast, hollandaise sauce or baked beans!

If you were to go to a high-end restaurant, they sometimes offer it with unconventional ingredients such as lamb, fish, venison, chicken, steak, shrimp or turkey!

Close up of breakfast hash

The great thing about this recipe is that all of the main ingredients (excluding the ham) is either protein or a speed food! This means that you can pack the dish with more speed than what’s on the measurements below and you can’t go wrong! They will keep you fuller for longer and are full of goodness!
