One of my followers asked me, ‘how can you eat so many carbs in one meal and still lose weight?’. And the answer is simple, I don’t eat this many carbs for every meal! On this particular day though, I really had a case of the munchies and rather than binge eat on things that were totally off plan and going to affect my weigh in for the week. I looked for a Slimming World friendly way to satisfy my cravings. This did not disappoint! In fact, I was so full from having this for lunch, I didn’t want or need any dinner. What’s more, at only 2.5 syns, so if you are following Slimming World, you really can’t go wrong.

Pasta ‘n’ Sauce

I am all for keeping things simple and this is one of the ways I like to cut corners. Remember, I was really caving food at this point, so the quicker I could prepare it, the quicker I could eat it! On this particular day, I has the cheese and broccoli one which is 2.5 syns for the whole packet. If cheese and broccoli isn’t your ideal flavour combination, Batchelors do plenty of other flavours some of which are higher syns and some of which are lower. Make sure you check which one you are getting!

Packet of Pasta n Sauce (Slimming World friendly)

If you need to save on syns, try the Mediterranean, Arrabbiata or Chicken and Mushroom flavours (not suitable for vegetarians). Each of these are only 0.5 syns for the packet. However, be careful if you are looking at the Gorgonzola and Mushroom sachet as it is 5.5syns! You should also look out for the Spinach and Ricotta or Prosecco and Mushroom flavours as although they sound delicious, they come in at 5 syns each. These flavours may be great if your planning this into your week but are definitely not something to whip up when your just feeling peckish and want to eat everything in sight!

Like I said before, this really is a way to ‘cut corners’ on meal prep. It would take ages to cook pasta and make a cheese and broccoli sauce from scratch. But with this, you just pop it in the pan with 250ml of water and 100ml of milk (I prefer oat milk), boil it for 5 minutes and it is done. Simple!

Other Pasta Recipes:

Bread

Living on my own, I often do not manage to eat a full loaf of bread before it goes out of date so a handy tip is to keep it in the freezer! This does affect the freshness so keep some out for the days you want a sandwich. However, if you are toasting it anyway, it makes no difference. When you need a slice of bread, pop it in the microwave on a high power for 15 – 25 seconds to defrost it before toasting.
