Doughnuts

I love doughnuts! They’re great for curbing those sweet cravings and I love that I can have slimming friendly ones so that I can stay on plan! You will need a doughnut mould for this, I bought mine from amazon here.

If you want to buy the toppings, you can get them here.

Spread of doughnuts

If you’re counting calories, they come in at around 430 calories for all four doughnuts (without toppings)! In all honesty, I couldn’t manage all four of these in one sitting and would recommend sharing them with someone.

If, like my parents, you are concerned about your saturated fat intake, you will be pleased to know that there is only around 3.2g of saturated fat in the doughnut recipe. Of course, that doesn’t account for the toppings which I will get to later.

Doughnut Moulds

To make these doughnuts, you will need a doughnut mould. I knew I wanted to make doughnuts for quite a while before I was actually able to. This was mainly because I couldn’t find any shops that stocked doughnut moulds and were open during lockdown! Eventually a friend just said have you looked on Amazon? Well, duh! I thought to myself. As if I had forgotten about Amazon!

Example of doughnut moulds

There are tons of different listings on Amazon for doughnut moulds and it was very easy to get lost in them all. Eventually I settled on this pack of 4 silicone trays of 6 moulds as there were some nice heart and flower shapes that I could use for other recipes and the price was competitive with the other ones on there. They are also oven safe to 230 degrees, and freezer and dishwasher proof.

Toppings

I am not going to lie, I have a massive sweet tooth. So, for me, the toppings really make these. Although you could enjoy the doughnuts without toppings or with a light dusting of sugar, as you can see from the pictures and the recipe, I went to town with my toppings!

Display of toppings

If you follow my blog or Instagram page, you know how much I love Biscoff and Skinny Food Co. I couldn’t have a doughnut without having at least one with biscoff sauce on it, I simply couldn’t resist! I can confirm that it was delicious! Equally delicious, was the doughnut topped with white chocolate spread. If I was having these again, these are the two toppings I would be putting on and not sharing!

I know everybody has different tastes, so if you prefer something a bit more fruity, the jams offered by Skinny Food co. are great as the difference in calories and sugars is beyond belief. They also offer a whole host of flavours including: blackcurrant, raspberry,  black cherry and apricot so there is pretty much something for everyone.

If you make these doughnuts, be sure to leave a comment if you enjoyed them! If you’re on Instagram, I’d love to see how they looked! Just tag me in your post @thesliceofjess
